Bookish Places {2}: The Dolphin Bookshop

Hey Remarkable Readers,
Do you remember that post I did quite a while ago when I gave you all a mini-tour of NYC's The Strand?  I really enjoyed writing that post for you and visiting the store.  I figured, why not make it a regular feature?  I'll be spotlighting bookish places and events whenever I come across a new one!  Each time, I'll show some photos and give my own take of the place along with links to their website and social networks.  Here's my current pick:

The Dolphin Bookshop

I love the Dolphin Bookshop!  It's on Long Island in New York and overlooks the absolutely gorgeous harbor.  If you're ever around Long Island, Port Washington is definitely a beautiful and quaint little town to check out.  The Dolphin Bookshop has a friendly staff and great book recommendations.  They also have a children's room with toys, gifts, and books!  Their YA section is tucked away in the store, perfect for browsing and getting that "bookstore feeling."  The Dolphin has a selection of books that mix new and older.  It's one of those places where you feel like you "found" a book and I love that feeling.  It doesn't boast every single new book on the market, but I like that.  It's always nice to see some different books on the shelves.  Although I don't usually shop in the adult section, The Dolphin does feature a nice selection at the front of the store.  The store has a wonderful atmosphere and I love the decor.  All the bookshelves are wood and so is the floor so it's like one of those bookstores in movies :).  What else is great about the Dolphin Bookshop, you ask?  They've just opened a Cafe!  Yes, I said it!  I've yet to try any of the treats yet but, I certainly will soon!  There are some tables and chairs to sit at and read, too.  Even if you aren't looking to buy any books, why not support a local indie and just have a cup of coffee?  Another thing I love about the Dolphin is the window.  Each season, it is painted to reflect the upcoming holiday but, they mix in bookish themes, too!  It's really cute!  I've also attended a few book signings there and I really enjoyed them.  It's located in a small town so book signings are really personal.  They usually have a small crowd so it's almost like a one on one with your favorite authors!

If you can't make it all the way to Long Island, don't fret!  The Dolphin Bookshop sells both ebooks and physical books on their website!  Yay!  I hope you'll check out the online selection or stop into the store!  Let them know who sent you ;)
