Guest Review: How Full Is Your Bucket by Tom Rath and Donald O. Clifton Ph.D.

Hey Everyone!  I know I didn’t post a review last week but, that’s because I asked my mom to review the book she was reading!  She needed a little time to write her review so this will count as the review for the week of Dec. 4th.  I know my blog is both YA and fiction focused but, focused is the key word!  I figured I’d change it up this week!  Here’s my mom reviewing a Nonfiction book!
Hi there, I am Jessie’s Mom and this week and I am your guest reviewer!  I happen to love the fact that Jessie is such an avid reader. I on the other hand have not had as much time as I would like to dedicate to reading. Seeing Jessie read as much as she does gives me the inspiration to want to read as much as I possibly can. It’s Funny that I wanted to instill a love of reading in her and now she is doing the same for me by reminding me how much I love it. She has asked me to review from time to time so, here I am! :)
Jessie loves to read fiction. I do, too.  However, I do have a love for Non-fiction. I love the process of learning new things about life, how people tick, and about business. I hope to review some fiction books here but I also hope you find some of the non-fiction books I review interesting. I promise to try to only review the most interesting ones, the books that I think will help to make improvements in your life.

How did you feel after your last interaction with another person?
Did that person -- your spouse, best friend, co-worker, or even a stranger -- "fill your bucket" by making you more positive? Or did that person "dip from your bucket," leaving you more negative than before?
How Full Is Your Bucket? reveals how even the briefest interactions affect your relationships, productivity, health, and longevity.
Organized around a simple metaphor of a dipper and a bucket, and grounded in 50 years of research, this audiobook will show you how to greatly increase the positive moments in your work and your life while reducing the negative.
Filled with discoveries, powerful strategies, and engaging stories, How Full Is Your Bucket? is sure to inspire lasting chances and has all the makings of a timeless classic.

I recently read a book that was given to me by a friend of mine. The book is titled “How Full is Your bucket?” and was written by Tom Rath and Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D.  This book was a very quick read.  It has a total of 127 pages and is written in pretty large type. The book focuses on positive strategies for work and life. How Full is Your Bucket? reveals how even the most brief interactions with people in your everyday life can easily effect your relationships, productivity, health and longevity. Grounded in 50 years of research this book uses a simple metaphor of a ladle and a bucket to show us how what we do and say to others not only affects them but ourselves as well. Each of us has an invisible bucket, it is constantly being emptied or filled, depending on what others say or do to us. When our bucket is full, we feel great, when it is emptied we feel awful. This book simplifies the power of positive thinking and acting. I have read many books on the subject of positive thinking and what it can do for your life and self esteem, but this one is one of the best.  It takes a simple concept and hits home with its readers. Filled with short stories about work and relationships that we can all relate to, How Full is Your Bucket? shows how we can truly understand that looking at what we do right; NOT what we do wrong can work wonders for us in improving our everyday life.  I would highly recommend this quick read for everyone, from mothers to young adults and college kids. There is even a children's edition of this book titled “How Full is Your Bucket for Kids." At the end of each book is a code to use on the internet for a self assessment test that will help you in learning more about what you are good at and how to use those strengths to help you in your life. I think this is a wonderful book and I hope you will read it too.  It’s important that you find out how full your bucket is!
